An Apple a Day…

Greetings all,

Well what a day…I feel like I’ve been talking about Apple and their products all day…and I’m an Android fanboy!

First it was the release of the iPad 2 (with the surprise appearance of Steve Jobs)

Then it was the availability of the launch video linked through the ever reliable Engadget.com

And now I’ve just read about the newly released iTunes 10.2!

Man, what a day huh?

Welcome iPad 2, We’ve Been Waiting For You…

Greetings all,

Welcome to iPad 2 Day!

Steve Jobs made a surprise appearance today, to a standing ovation naturally,  when he personally unveiled the iPad 2!

So what brand new goodies does the iPad 2 bring us?

•  The addition of a front facing camera (FaceTime)
•  Thinner than the iPhone 4
•  15% lighter than the original iPad (1.5 pounds down to 1.3)
•  Available in both black and white
•  Available in both Wi-Fi and 3G models (however incompatible with LTE)
•  A5 dual core processor

Regarding pricing, the iPad 2 will be comparable to the original iPad with a starting price of $499 USD. The device will begin shipping in the US March 11 and in 26 other countries on March 25th!

We knew that the iPad 2 would have to be available soon because production had already commenced, see our earlier article.

Did you know that Apple has a 90% market share on tablets?? Isn’t that amazing?! I was stunned when I heard that, so I guess it’s not a surprise that Mr Jobs stated that if 2010 was the “year of the iPad,” he might call 2011 “the year of the copycats.”

It’s on that note that I look forward to the offerings from RIM, Samsung, and Motorola.

Inside an Apple Store – Confessions of an Employee

Greetings all.

I came across this article this morning titled “Confessions of an Apple Store Employee” and I thought I just hit the motherload of corporate gossip stories! I prepared myself for stories of unbridled cult-ish behaviour that would involve slavedrivers whipping their employees to bind customers to the Apple brand!

However in reality it actually was a very interesting read about what day to day life is like for an employee working in one of the stores of the biggest brand on the planet!

From being kept in the dark about upcoming product releases, to dealing with customers who cry, swear, and abuse, to serving drug dealers and importers, and finally having to handle an ever growing ego when working in the Genius Bar.

A great read which has something for us all

Oh and check out the comments too…some claim the original article was a plant from Apple…I can’t imagine that is the case because it’s not all 100% glowing…

What Type of iPhone User Are You?

Greetings all,

In the spirit of all things iPhone I just should I would share this little gem that I came across and I am sure that all of you who use an iPhone can identify with.

 

If there was one for the Android, I would most definitely be the “The Overuser” but for my current iPhone I believe I sit comfortably in the “The Desk Job” at this point in time.

iPad 2: Production Commences

Greetings all,

The iPad 2 is coming!

According to the Wall Street Journal it looks like Apple has commenced production on its forthcoming iPad 2…so can a release date be far off?

The report states that the new version should come with a front facing camera to allow users to access Face Time and also with increased processing power.

However, the Internet is rife with rumours about what other inclusions the iPad 2 will have, ranging from a better screen (retina display) to micro USB, to expandable memory, to being able to transform into a jet and fly you to a tropical paradise…

Only time will tell…
