Tom Hardy as Bane!

Written by Stoic Taco

The viral campaign for The Dark Knight Rises has kicked off with a new site, a black screen, weird chanting, and a new phrase The Fire Rises.

Oh and also the first image of Tom Hardy as Bane!

If you head over to http://www.thedarkknightrises.com/ you won’t see anything but a black screen but you will hear something… something very cool and creepy at the same time.

Here’s the sound file from the website, hear the chanting in all its eerie glory.

The Dark Knight Rises

There’s a lot of speculation on Superhero Hype as to what the chanting could be and it refers to. Check out their article and see what one of their readers did with the understanding the chanting, it’s very cool. The general consensus about the plot point is that it’s most likely to be a Lazarus Pit used by Ra’s al Ghul to regenerate his body.

Whatever the chanting refers to, it’s a great start to what is sure to be another amazing viral marketing campaign.

The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled for a July 2012 release.

Batman to be rebooted AGAIN!

Greetings all,

After the remarkable job that Christopher Nolan has done getting audiences around the world to take Batman seriously again Warner Bros has decided to reboot the franchise again after The Dark Knight Rises is released!

dark knight logo

IMDB reported that Warner Bros president Jeff Robinov stated last night “We have the third Batman, but then we’ll have to reinvent Batman…Chris Nolan and [producing partner and wife] Emma Thomas will be producing it, so it will be a conversation with them about what the next phase is.”

So what does this mean for fans?

Well at this point in time, too little is known to accurately get a feel on what is going to happen…but it does raise some interesting questions.

  • Will Mr Nolan and Ms Thomas influence the reboot to have the same tone and feel as their Batman franchise?
  • Will any of the original cast members be returning?
  • Will this be a complete reboot with a complete origin story? If so, does this mean that there is going to be an actor who gets the chance to play the Joker again?
  • Will the new reboot also be a trilogy?
  • Will it follow a comic book arc?

So many questions and sadly not enough answers.

However there is one silver lining, at least they didn’t decide to go down the path of a TV show continuation ala Star Wars: The Clone Wars…small victory I suppose.

Until there’s more news

Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Role NOT Falcone

Greetings all,

Just when you thought it was safe to carry on with your day with the announcement that Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception, Stop-Loss) would be playing Alberto Falcone, the son of Carmine Falcone (played by Tom Wilkinson in Batman Begins) in the third installment of the franchise, The Dark Knight Rises…however this is INCORRECT!

EW is reporting that Mr Gordon-Levitt will be playing a role in the film however it will not be that of Alberto Falcone as originally reported.

So it’s now back to the drawing board, just what role will be play?

There has been plenty of speculation that Mr Gordon-Levitt will play The Riddler but I don’t believe that this could be the case since we know that Catwoman and Bane are already in the film and I can’t imagine for a minute that Christopher Nolan would go down the path taken by Spider-Man 3 and have an influx of villains.

The best rumour I have heard is that it might be Jean-Paul Valley, the best man known for filling in for Bruce Wayne as Batman after he had his back broken by Bane. Since Bane is already in the film, plus Christian Bale stated multiple times that this is the last outing for him as Batman, it is entirely feasible that they MIGHT be setting Gordon-Levitt up as the replacement.

I know it’s only a rumour but how cool a rumour is it?!?!

Let’s hope that there is some clarification soon.
