Al Pacino Joins Gotti:Three Generations

The news is good. The news is very good.

The Godfather himself, Michael Corleone aka Al Pacino, has signed on to join the cast of Gotti: Three Generations playing John Gotti Sr’s associate and mentor Neil Dellacroce.

If any actor was going lend credibility to a film and bring it back on track it’s going to be Al Pacino.

The film has been plagued with some controversy, Lindsay Lohan being cast then removed then re-cast again and also having the original director walk away, and so casting the Godfather in an integral role is surely going to raise interest and get the film back on track.

The second lot of good news is the addition of Barry Levinson stepping into the role as director, a position which has remained empty since Nick Cassavetes walked away a month or so ago. Barry Levinson has had a long and industrious history in Hollywood as both director and producer, You Don’t Know Jack, Wag The Dog, and Rain Man and there is no doubt that with him running the show that this film is back on track.

So let’s just take a moment and see where we’re at….we have;

John Travolta as The Dapper Don

Kelly Preston as Victoria Gotti

Joe Pesci as Angelo Ruggiero

Lindsay Lohan as Kim Gotti

and

Al Pacino as Neil Dellacroce

Now tell me that you’re not excited!

Gotti: Three Generations – Joe Pesci Onboard

The more I hear about Gotti: Three Generations the more excited I get!

Being a lifelong fan of gangster films and reading all the books when I was younger I am just all kinds of excited about the buzz that Gotti: Three Generations is gathering.

During a recent press conference at the Sheraton Hotel in Manhattan, John Travolta was quoted as saying that the Gotti story is “the most interesting untold story in this country.” The film’s producer Marc Fiore has confirmed that Mr Travolta has indeed signed on to play the ‘Teflon Don’, John Gotti Sr.

I think that the most exciting news of the press conference was that Joe Pesci, the prince of gangster cinema, has signed on to play Gotti deputy Angelo Ruggiero! In a press release Mr Pesci stated “I’m really happy to be making this picture with my good friend Nick Cassavetes. It’s going to be a great experience and a rare opportunity to look inside the life of Gotti.”

This only lends more credibility to the film which has attracted the A-List leading man John Travolta and now powerhouse Joe Pesci has joined the cast. Adding fuel to the rumours that Lindsay Lohan is in talks to play Victoria Gotti is the fact that Lindsay was in attendance at the press conference sitting next to none other than Victoria Gotti!

I don’t think it will be long until we hear that Gotti:Three Generations will be Lindsay’s comeback film…and what a film it’s shaping up to be!

Lindsay Lohan as Victoria Gotti

UPDATE

Lindsay Lohan rumoured to be cast as Victoria Gotti in the John Gotti biopic Gotti: Three Generations and then it was announced by Producer Marc Fiore stated that an agreement couldn’t be reached.

On the same day another annoucement was made that Lindsay was back on the film only this time cast as John Gotti’s daughter-in-law Kim Gotti, a role once rumoured to be headed in Kim Kardashian’s direction.

Our story is here

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

This could be the return role for Lindsay Lohan to get her career back on track, and what a way to do it!

Ms Lohan has been hand-picked by the woman whom she might be playing on-screen, Victoria Gotti, daughter of the infamous mobster, John Gotti Sr.

Victoria Gotti Photos

Victoria Gotti, star of the reality TV show Growing Up Gotti, has reportedly hand-picked Ms Lohan over other starlets Blake Lively and Sienna Miller for the forthcoming biopic Gotti: Three Generations starring John Travolta as the ‘Teflon Don’.

The film which is currently in pre-production is directed by Nick Cassavetes and written by Leo Rossi focuses on the relationship between John Gotti Sr, who died in prison in 2002, and his son John Gotti Jr, who for a time took over as head of the Gambino crime family.

There are rumours that James Franco might be up for the role as John Gotti Sr however this is pure speculation at this point in time, however I think he would do great in the role.

As a lifelong fan of gangster films, I will definitely be keeping you all up to date with the latest news on this project which is currently scheduled for a 2013 release.

John Travolta to play John Gotti Snr?

Greetings all,

It’s a rumour no more!

According to THR, Gotti: Three Generations will star John Travolta as the Dapper Don and will be directed by Nick Cassavettes.

The film, scripted by Leo Rossi, will focus on the relationship between John Gotti Sr, the head of the Gambino crime family who died in prison in 2002, and John Gotti Jr who assumed control of the crime family.

Mr Travolta, who embodies charisma and screen presence, is a perfectly suited to play the ‘Teflon Don’, the man who many considered untouchable by the American legal system.

Last seen in From Paris with Love, Mr Travolta is due for a big screen comeback and if this project is handled right, we might even see an Oscar nomination come his way…

Mr Gotti Jr has given his blessing to the film and plans on joining the producers and Mr travolta as a press screening in April.

I suppose that’s one offer they couldn’t refuse.

“I’ll have mine with ketchup and sour cream”

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

According to Empire Online it looks like John Travolta is in “serious talks” with executive producer Marc Fiore to play John Gotti Snr in a new biopic.

As we know Mr Travolta has played several less than savoury characters (‘Swordfish’, ‘Face/Off’, and ‘Taking of Pelham 123’ come to mind) previously so it’s not like this would be brand new territory.

Full story can be found here;

http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=29992

John Gotti Snr was a legendary Mob boss who was nicknamed the “Teflon Don” by the press as he had successfully beat numerous charges on multiple occasions.

The Gotti name is synonymous with the image of luxury and criminal elements and would require an actor of considerable skill and presence to portray this role.

This could be the role that could put John Travolta back on top of the A List given the lacklustre performance of his last couple of roles (‘From Paris with Love’ and ‘Old Dogs’).

The role of John Gotti could be the ideal return role for the “comeback kid” – John Travolta.
