Larry Crowne Poster & Trailer

Written by: Stoic Taco

The first poster for the new Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts feel good comedy, Larry Crowne, has been released.

As we’ve previously reported, this marks the first time in 2 years since Tom Hanks has starred in film, not counting Toy Story 3, and I have to say that’s it a welcome return.

The trailer tells the story of a man starting over, finding love, and bringing a little inspiration to those around him. It looks like a charming story and I’m really looking forward to it.

In the midst of one superhero film after another (don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining!) it is just plain nice to have something like a feel-good movie come along and break up the flow.

Larry Crowne is directed, written by, and starring Tom Hanks! The last time he attempted this triple threat was with the very well received That Thing You Do.

Will Larry Crowne experience the same success?

My guess is it will do even better!

Cloud Atlas Casting News

Written by: Stoic Taco

As we previously posted, Cloud Atlas is a new film starring Tom Hanks and Halle Berry about the impacts and consequences that our actions have throughout the past, present, and future. Based on the David Mitchell novel, Cloud Atlas follows 6 storylines spanning the 19th, 20th, and future centuries.

THR reported from Cannes that Hugo Weaving and Ben  have been confirmed as joining the cast in major roles.

Hugo Weaving has worked with the film’s co-writers/directors, The Wachowski’s, in the Matrix franchise and also V for Vendetta. Ben  had his big screen debut working with the other co-writer/director Tom Twyker in Perfume: The Story of a Murderer.

This has all the makings of an epic big budget film, let’s hope it continues.

Cloud Atlas

Read this;

CLOUD ATLAS is an epic story of humankind in which the actions and consequences of our lives impact one another throughout the past, present and future as one soul is shaped from a murderer into a savior and a single act of kindness ripples out for centuries to inspire a revolution.

That, my friends, is the official plot description of Cloud Atlas, a new film co-written and co-directed by Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run) and The Wachowskis (Seriously? You want me to list their films??).

And according to IMDb the film tells six stories that set in a different time and place that become intricately linked to each other. It sounds really trippy, mind bending, and just crazy enough to work!

Tom Hanks has just recently signed on to play Dr Henry Goose, joining the cast consisting of Halle Berry playing Meronym. There are rumours of James McAvoy playing Adam Ewing but nothing has been confirmed…perhaps Professor X could help us…ok sorry I couldn’t help myself.

This has the makings of something good; solid cast so far, good writing team, great directing team, and an original story…let’s see what happens from here.

‘Larry Crowne’ Trailer

Greetings all,

Sometimes all you want to see is a movie with a good story, strong actors, and a theme that we can all relate to in one way or another, and it’s on that note that I post the trailer to Tom Hanks’ new film, Larry Crowne.

Tom Hanks, takes on the role of director, writer (along with Nia Vardalos), and star in his new film about the story of a middle-aged man who loses his job and decides to take charge of his own life and head to college…and in the process finds a new life and love.

Co-starring Julia Roberts as a disillusioned teacher who appears to take very little joy from something (we can assume) that she once did, manages to rediscover her spark when Larry Crowne enters her classroom.

It seems like it’s been forever since we last saw Tom Hanks starring in a movie, not counting Toy Story 3 because it was just his voice, which means that it was 2009’s Angels & Demons. It’s a very long overdue return to the big screen Mr Hanks, we’ve missed you!

However since Mr Hanks is a voracious Twitter-er (@tomhanks) we’ve been kept up to date with his updates on the filming of Larry Crowne and I have to say that the trailer didn’t disappoint.

Julia Roberts, last seen in Eat Pray Love, playing the disillusioned teacher is a really great fit because it’s a little bit of a stretch from what we’ve come to expect from her.

The pairing of Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts would be enough to garner public interest but it looks like there is a strong story too.

I, for one, and definitely looking forward to its release.
